How often do I need to visit a dentist?

The American Dental Association (ADA) guidelines recommend visiting a dentist at least twice a year for a check-up and professional cleaning. Our office also recommends a minimum of two visits per year.

What should I expect during my appointment?

One of our staff members will compile your medical and dental history during your first visit. We will then examine your teeth and gums, screen you for oral cancer, make X-rays of your teeth as needed and complete a TMJ (temporomandibular or jaw joint) exam.

After we review your dental profile, we will discuss a diagnosis with you including your options for treatment and fee payment and help you determine the best plan to fit your needs.

During regular follow-up visits, we will examine your teeth and gums, screen you for oral cancer, clean your teeth and make plans for treatment, as needed. We will discuss any pain or problems you may be experiencing and answer any questions you may have.

Do you accept dental insurance?

Our office accepts nearly all of the major insurance plans. We’re well-versed in the latest coverage trends and are more than happy to discuss the particulars of your plan with you prior to any treatments you may undergo.

Do you offer financing for dental procedures?

Yes, we do.

We have payment plans we can discuss with you at the time of dental diagnosis.

I’m nervous about dental procedures. Can I sleep?

We can do several things for you, including a safe and light sleep. We use safe oral sedation and your health is never in any danger. We also have nitrous oxide. The combination of light sedation, and nitrous oxide often has patients so relaxed they fall asleep during our procedures.

Is teeth whitening (bleaching) harmful to my teeth?

Teeth whitening is not harmful to the teeth. It removes stains from the teeth that may be caused by coffee, teas, tobacco, and food. A small percentage of patients can experience sensitivity after bleaching, but this usually goes away over time.

The length of time that bleaching’s effects last varies depending on the individual and his or her cleaning habits.

What precautions do you take to ensure patient safety?

Our entire practice team is well-versed in state-of-the-art sanitation techniques designed to ensure patient safety. This goes beyond wearing gloves and face masks to prevent passing germs. It includes a specialized sanitation center made especially to cater to your safety.

Can I get major problems treated right away?

Our first priority is to diagnose and treat any urgent conditions that pose an immediate threat to your oral health.

Our next priority is prevention, which means controlling the disease process, promoting wellness, and helping you maintain good overall oral health. This is important to make sure that any major restorative work is successful in the long term.

Once you have achieved a satisfactory state of oral health and your teeth and supporting structures are stabilized, then we can proceed with major restorative work that builds on this healthy foundation.
